Commercial overview
Rice supply for international markets
Rice programmes can serve wholesale, foodservice, retail and distribution channels. A commercial specification should identify variety/type, grain characteristics, milling, broken percentage, moisture, crop/origin where relevant and packaging.
02
Product forms & buyer requirements
Possible programmes include basmati, non-basmati long grain, parboiled and other regional varieties. Variety names and grades differ by origin, so the specification sheet governs the trade.
03
Packaging & commercial supply
Supply can use woven PP, laminated bags, sacks or retail packs depending on programme. Private-label packing is subject to mill/packer capability and volume.
04
Sourcing approach
Origin selection considers crop availability, grade, price, freight, market preference and import conditions.
05
Quality, documentation & compliance
Quality parameters can include moisture, broken kernels, foreign matter and other grade-specific tolerances. Final limits should come from the agreed supplier specification and applicable destination standards.
